How We Approach a Removal

1. Tree Removal Quote / Assess the Tree and Property

We inspect the tree, its condition and the surrounding area, and talk with you about any concerns or priorities you have for the job.

The assessment includes available working space, access, nearby structures and hazards such as powerlines or traffic, as well as anything on the property you want us to take extra care around.

2. Plan the Work

We decide on the safest and most efficient way to remove the tree. We can work with you at this stage to plan access, protect important areas of the property and make sure the job is carried out with as little disruption as possible.

For more complex jobs, we also plan how branches, timber and equipment will move through the site.

It can sound like a lot to think about, but we’ll guide you through it. In most cases, a quick chat on site during the quoting stage is all it takes to work through the details and agree on the best approach.

3. Professional Tree Removal Service

Our crew uses professional climbing, cutting and rigging equipment suited to the job.

Trees in open areas may be felled from ground level, while trees in tight spaces or more complex locations are removed in controlled sections to avoid any damage.

You’re welcome to watch if you like — many customers are surprised by how quickly and efficiently an experienced crew can get the job done.

4. Processing the Branches & Timber

Branches are fed through our wood chipper, which turns the debris into arborist mulch and blows it directly into the back of our truck. This keeps the site tidy and makes the material easy to manage and remove.

We’re equipped to remove everything from site, including timber, logs and mulch. If you’d like to keep anything, just let us know. Suitable wood can be left for firewood, and wood chip can also be left on site for use as garden mulch.

5. Dealing With the Stump

The remaining stump can be cut close to ground level as part of the tree removal. If you’d like the stump dealt with further, we can offer a couple of options.

For a more budget-friendly option, the stump can be treated to prevent regrowth. This is often all that’s needed if the stump is in a garden bed or another area where leaving it in place isn’t an issue.

If you want the stump removed below ground level, our stump grinder can grind it out so the area can be replanted, grassed or landscaped.

If you’re interested in either option, just let us know and we can include it in the quote.

6. Clean Up

Once the work is complete, we rake the work area clean and remove the debris. We take this part of the job just as seriously as the rest.

Our aim is to leave your property clean and tidy when we finish, so there’s nothing extra for you to sort out afterwards.

If you’d prefer to handle the clean-up yourself, that’s no problem either. We can discuss this during the quoting stage and tailor the job to suit.

How Much Does Tree Removal Cost?

Tree removal prices can vary depending on the size and condition of the tree, its location, access, nearby structures and the amount of work involved.

A smaller tree in an open area may be relatively simple to deal with, while a large tree overhanging a house or growing in a confined backyard can require more climbing, rigging and time.

Some trees can look complicated from the ground, especially if they are large or close to buildings. With the right crew, equipment and planning, Canterbury Tree Experts can turn even difficult removals into safe, organised and efficient jobs.

The main factors that can affect removal cost include:

  • Experience, skill and efficiency of the arborist crew
  • Equipment required for the job
  • Height and overall size of the tree
  • Condition of the tree
  • Access to the property
  • Available working space
  • Proximity to buildings, fences and gardens
  • Climbing and rigging requirements
  • Amount of timber and debris to be processed
  • Whether timber is being kept on site or removed
  • Whether stump grinding is required

An experienced crew with the right equipment can often complete a difficult-looking job far more efficiently, which can make a real difference to the overall cost.
